The Law of Management

This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground. Genesis 2:4-6

When the Lord Jesus told Peter that I will give you the keys of the kingdom, he was in actuality giving him a revelation of the laws of the kingdom. The laws of any kingdom are like master keys that open doors to certain aspects of kingdom life and experience. One of those kingdom laws is the law of management. This is in my opinion one of the most important kingdom laws governing personal development and prosperity.

Let us dissect the passage from Genesis 2:4-6 to unravel the power of the law of management. I will dissect the passage piece by piece. The statement in the text “in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens” makes God our “Abba” (the source) of everything in heaven and earth. This principle is an important foundation for the law of management. We will quickly see why this is so?

The first statement in the scriptural text is followed by the following, “before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown.” This statement suggests that it was within the heart of God to fill the earth with plants and herbs of the field. However, there was a missing ingredient that was causing Him to delay what was in His heart to do. The million-dollar question is, what was it? Knowing this “it” is critical to understanding why some prayers prayed by sincere and God loving Christians never get answered. Maybe you are in the same predicament, wondering why the Lord has not given you the provision, promotion or breakthrough that He has promised you in His word. If you are, I want you know that you are not the only one. I used to tearfully ask myself the same question, before the Lord gave me the revelation of the “it” factor that was delaying what was in the heart of God for me.

The third statement in the text is as follows, “For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth.” This statement demonstrates that the “rains” of prosperity, increase, favor, healing, miracles, signs and wonders comes from the Lord. He is the one who causes things to happen when we are correctly positioned. Once again, the million-dollar question is “Why had God not caused it to rain on earth?” It’s obvious from the text that He was more than capable. What was restraining His hand of blessing and increase? Is the answer still connected to the mysterious “it” factor?

The answer is a resounding “Yes!” So, what is the “it” factor? The “it” factor is found in the final piece of the puzzle. The “it” factor is hidden in the statement “and there was no man to till the ground.” The reason the Lord had not caused it to rain on the earth is because “there was no man” on earth to “manage” the harvest or increase that would come from seeds that were laying dormant in ground. This entire passage demonstrates that “wherever there is no management” God stops or restrains growth. There is a lot of Christians who are blaming the devil for the lack of increase or upward movement in their life, when in actuality it’s the LORD who is resisting them. Are you one of those people? Does this article hit a nerve in your spirit? How well are you managing what the Lord has already given you? Since there is a time to every purpose under heaven (Ecc 3:1), how are you managing your time? Time is the most important resource you have on earth.  To mismanage time is to mismanage your purpose!
