Look to Abraham your father, And to Sarah who bore you; For I called him alone, And blessed him and increased him.” 3 For the Lord will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the Lord; Joy and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving and the voice of melody. Isaiah 51:2-3
This week I want to talk about one of the most important “Thinking” patterns a kingdom thinker can ever develop. My dear friend Bob Harrison calls this kind of thinking “Increase Thinking!” Solomon the wisest and richest man who has ever lived says, “as a man thinketh so is he!” This statement means that its impossible to separate a person from what is lodged in their subconscious mind. What is clear from Scripture is that God does not lend Himself to “scarcity thinking” because His kingdom is one of extreme abundance. Abundance is the basic format of God’s kingdom. This means that the best thinking philosophy we can personally develop that is completely compatible with God’s kingdom is “Increase Thinking.” Increase thinking will eventually open you up to “Increase Thinking Lifestyle.”
In the above passage of Scripture the Bible encourages us to look to Abraham and Sarah…. the key thought here is captured in the statement… “I called him alone, and blessed and increased him!” The phrase “I called him alone” is a reference to the fact that when God called Abraham and Sarah they didn’t have “much” but by the time God was through with them, Abraham was one of the richest men in the East and a father of many nations. It is clear that if God is commanding us to “look to Abraham and Sarah” as a prophetic pattern of blessing, it means that God has no problem with His children experiencing a lifestyle of abundance.
This being the case why are so many sections of Christianity trapped in what I called the vortex of “scarcity thinking?” In this vortex, poverty is seen as a form of spirituality. Unfortunately there is no place in the entire Bible were the bible doesn’t treat poverty for what it is….a curse on humanity! Part of the reason why some Christians cannot breakthrough into a “lifestyle of increase thinking” is due to the fact that most Protestant Christian churches come out of Catholicism where “vows of poverty” where common place as symbols of spirituality and closeness to God. Consequently, some Christians have a “silent inbuilt” vow of poverty that they have not yet renounced. This is why many of them struggle with the whole idea of believing God for a life of abundance, let alone celebrate another Christian who is experiencing “increase” in their life. The most important thing that I want you to remember is that increase thinking is not limited to “money” alone. God wants to “Increase in your life” what “money cannot buy.”
God wants to increase your:
- Joy
- Peace
- Prosperity
- Wisdom
- Stature
- Favor
- Relationships
Think about this! Why wouldn’t any child of God not want to experience increase in any of the aforementioned? This is what “Increase Thinking” is all about. Below are some of the Scriptures I want to challenge you to meditate on to start developing an “Increase Mindset!”
Deuteronomy 1:11
May the Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times more numerous than you are, and bless you as He has promised you!
John 10:10
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Genesis 19:19
Indeed now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have increased your mercy which you have shown me by saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountains, lest some evil overtake me and I die.

Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me so much that you have made provision for me to walk in INCREASE, as the head and not the tail. I decree and declare that I will be fruitful in all that I do. I will multiply gifts and callings the Lord has placed upon my life. I will subdue and replenish, the Earth through the power of the Holy Spirit. I am connected to a life of abundance is rooted in my deep connection to the Lord Jesus Christ, In Jesus name!
