O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance. Psalms 16:5-6
In this week’s blog I felt impressed to use an excerpt from my book, Jumping The Line. I am certain in my spirit that the Lord Jesus is about to challenge you to “cross lines” you have previously thought impossible. Life is all about lines. Life is so full of lines that even our roads are marked and governed by them. Our highways would be the most dangerous places to be if there were no lines on the tarmac to direct the flow of incoming and outgoing traffic. Most importantly, we all deal with lines in our private life, don’t we?
Lines between sadness and happiness
- Lines between loneliness and personal fulfillment
- Lines between poverty and prosperity
- Lines between confusion and clarity
- Lines between hatred and forgiveness
- Lines between lust and love
And, lines between bondage and freedom!
Interestingly, it seems like invisible lines usually govern the areas of life we often label “ impossible .” These invisible lines are lines we don’t seem to see too clearly. For most of us, it’s the lines between “impossible” and “possible” that are quite important and deeply personal for all of us. And, in most cases, doesn’t it seem like that the situations and circumstances in life most worth living or dying for, often are on the side of the lines painted IMPOSSIBLE?
Doesn’t it seem like these so-called impossible lines are the most difficult lines to cross or break? This is because most of these lines are psychological, cultural or spiritual. Unfortunately, many of these so called “impossible” lines are not so easily detected. Especially when they are deeply rooted into our subconscious mind. Once these lines of behavior are constituted into the main frame of our subconscious mind they become masked by deeply embedded emotional responses that blur the line between who we really are and what is simply learned behavior on our part. In my many years of apostolic service to the Lord, I have come to the sobering conclusion that many of God’s people are “divinely wired for success but programmed for failure by life events that preceded their knowledge of their God given destiny and personal potential.” This week, I want to challenge you to take a piece of paper and write down everything you would like to accomplish in life, if God told you that He would grant you everything you write down on your piece of paper. After you do this, please circle things on your list that currently seem impossible for you to achieve. This will expose the “invisible lines of impossibility” that currently exist in your subconscious mind.
Fortunately, human history testifies to the fact that most of the so-called “impossible” lines in life can be crossed and broken; especially when we solicit God’s help!
For with God nothing will be impossible.”Luke 1:37
The Long Walk to Freedom
Not too long ago, we saw the “shattering” of an invisible line of impossibility that had existed for over 100 hundred years. It was a line few ever expected to be crossed in their lifetime. I am referring to the line between government run apartheid and freedom for all that was crossed on April 27, 1994 in the rainbow nation of South Africa. I am most excited about the crossing of this line because I was there when it happened. The mood of that day was a breathtaking mixture of somberness, fear and excitement as millions of South Africans stood in long lines for hours for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. They stood in line for the opportunity to cast their first vote for the first black presidential candidate in a country that had been ravaged by years of a very bloody apartheid system.
It was a DREAM come true for so many South Africans, and yet the dream was so fragile, that many feared the dream would not survive the night.
However, when Nelson Mandela was sworn in as South Africa’s first black president on the 10th of May 1994, South Africans, along with the rest of the world, had just experienced the turning of an “impossibility.” A multigenerational line most never expected to be broken or crossed in their lifetime had just been shattered into a million pieces. I watched from the comfort of my home in Pretoria the swearing ceremony of Nelson Mandela, which was attended by many world leaders and celebrities.
As you can see, it is possible to cross and break impossible lines.
But what about the impossible lines that you are currently facing?
I am talking about the “lines” that seem to keep you from living life its highest potential? The lines that you wish you could cross and break, which are keeping you from living in freedom? What about the lines between what you fear the most and what is actually possible? What about the lines between living a mediocre life and one that is loaded with endless possibilities? When I came to Christ in 1989, I had to personally overcome many of these deeply imbedded “lines of impossibility.” I was convinced the deck was stacked against me. But taste and see that the Lord is good! I am currently in the beautiful nation of Kenya as the keynote speaker at a Pastoral Leadership conference in the city of Nairobi that has been drawing thousands of people each day. This Friday, August 17th, I will be welcomed officially to the nation of Kenya by the Vice President of Kenya, Honorable William Ruto. Ask yourself this question: how can a poverty-ravaged boy in 1989 be commanding the presence of top government officials’ years later? Its called – crossing lines previously thought impossible! I believe it’s your time to crossing “lines” the devil does want you to cross. Your life of endless possibilities – awaits you on the other side of the line!

Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me so much that you have made provision for me to fulfill your will for my life here on earth. Heavenly Father, I refuse to live a life of mediocrity, when you have called me to a life of endless possibilities. Holy Spirit help to discern and discover areas of my life or thinking were I have been programmed for failure, even though you wired me for success when you created me. In Jesus name, I pray!
