THE WAR ON CONSCIOUSNESS!

Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” Genesis 28:16, NKJV

The greatest and most lethal war that the Body of Christ worldwide is involved in is the “war on consciousness.” Make no mistake this is as real a war as any you can think of. The stakes for winning or losing this war is very high. The devil is not as interested in robbing us of our financial or social status as much as he is interested in stripping us of consciousness. This is because the demonic powers know that we cannot manifest our sonship inheritance in Christ if we are stripped of “Consciousness.” Without consciousness we will be stripped of our precious connection to God and the much-needed daily interaction with the precious Holy Spirit; making a life of obedience to God impossible to sustain.

             We will find ourselves grappling in the dark trying to do by the arm of the flesh what God intended to be done in the spiritual realm through the power of His Spirit. I am reminded in this instance of the apostle Paul’s admonition of the Galatians. “O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect in the flesh (Galatians 3:1,3)? In another portion of Scripture, another prophet loudly declared, “It is not by might nor by power but by My Spirit says the Lord of hosts!”(Zechariah 4:6, NKJV)

Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. 1 Thessalonians 5:23

        Without a shadow of doubt, the most important spiritual battle that believers are engaged in is the “War on consciousness.” This war takes many forms (such as fighting for personal survival, managing stress, dealing with fear of the unknown or worrying about tomorrow) in order to disguise its true intention- a demonic assault on the believer’s consciousness. The reason the “War on consciousness” is the most important spiritual battle of our time becomes obvious when we examine the above passage of Scripture. The apostle Paul tells us that we are triune beings consisting of spirit, soul and body. We are essentially spirit-beings, who possess a soul and live inside a physical body of dirt (humus). What is of note here is that God created us to relate to consciousness on all of these three levels of our triune existence.   For instance:

        Man’s “spirit” gives him or her, the ability for God-consciousness. God is a Spirit (John 4:24) and, in consequence, the Godhead can only be discerned through a man’s spirit. This is why the first thing that the Holy Spirit does in regeneration when a person turns to the Lord Jesus is to resurrect their unregenerate spirit into the “newness of life” in Christ Jesus. Once a sinner’s spirit is made alive unto God through the shed blood of Christ on the Cross-, their level of God-consciousness begins to increase almost immediately.

       Man’s “soul” gives him or her the ability for what is known as “self- consciousness.” This due to the fact that man’s soul consists of “will, mind and emotions.” The presence of these three faculties in the soul of man makes the “soul” the true seat of self. This is why one of the quickest ways to enslave human beings and turn them into a plantation of robotic machines is to strip them of self-consciousness.

       Finally, man’s “physical body” gives him or her the ability for “world consciousness.” Man’s physical body is the only way he can be conscious of his immediate physical surroundings. This would explain why the corpse of a very loving mother inside a casket remains emotionally unresponsive to the wailing of her dear children. Her death has, in this case, stripped her of all world consciousness.

     The moral of this article is that you should not let anyone rob you of your God given faculties of exercising consciousness. Fight to remain free and unencumbered of the rudiments of this fallen world of sin. As you celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas season (even though Jesus was born in September the month of Rosh Hashanah) just realize that Christ died to “set you free, spiritually, soulishly and physically!”

Heavenly Father, thank you that when the Lord Jesus died and shed His blood for me on the Cross, He made it possible for me to live a life of “Consciousness.” I take back my God consciousness, my self-consciousness and my worldly consciousness, In Jesus name. Lord Jesus thank you that you said if the Son sets you FREE, you are free indeed. In Jesus name, I pray!
