And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men Luke 2:52 (NKJV)
One day of “Favor” can give you more than 1 year of work! I want you to chew on that for a little while. How many people are breaking their minds and backbones trying to accomplish through “hard labor” what God intended to do for them through the force of favor? Lets first define “favor.” The Thesaurus dictionary defines favor as:
- Excessive kindness or unfair partiality; preferential treatment
- The state of being approved or held in regard:
- Something done or granted out of goodwill, rather than from justice or for remuneration; a kind act:
Its very clear from these definitions that favor is more powerful than money. I know people who have money but cannot get into certain circles of influence, whereas people who have the force of favor over their lives seem to find themselves in places of influence and power that they cannot explain by natural means.
When I read Luke 2:52, I was taken by its amazing spiritual implications. This passage of scripture speaks of Jesus growing in wisdom, stature and in favor with God and man. The first question that came to mind was “Why would Jesus need favor?” Think about this, why would the G-d-man need favor with man of all creatures? Before I answer, please consider this, “Jesus on His worst day was perfect.” So if a man who was perfect on His worst day needed favor with God and man, why would mere mortals like you and I not require the force of supernatural favor to accomplish our God-given destinies?
Now let us answer the million-dollar question, “Why would Jesus need favor with man?” The answer is powerful but staggeringly simple. When Jesus was on earth He emptied himself of His divinity so He could walk on earth as a man. Jesus wanted to be the “pattern son” for us to follow. The only way He could do this is rely on the divine providence of His heavenly Father and the leading of the Holy Spirit, which is exactly what He did. Since all destinies are God and man sensitive, Jesus needed to have favor with God, to work miracles, signs and wonders. However, He needed favor with man in order for men to easily cooperate with His kingdom assignment. On earth God does not work alone. He has always chosen to partner with man. This is why spirits without physical bodies are illegal here on Earth, unless they partner with man.
For instance, Jesus needed to use an upper room to have Passover Seder with His disciples, so He sent to the house of a man He had favor with. Jesus told them to simply tell the owner of the upper room, “the master has need for this” and the man without any resistance whatsoever the man gave Jesus free usage of his property. Anyway you look at it, this is supernatural favor. When Jesus had need of donkey, He did the same thing. The master of the donkey willingly let it go. I have lived long enough to know that nobody can fulfill their God given destiny without interacting with other humans. This is why having the right people “like you” (favor you) is so important. I believe the primary way to harvest the force of favor in anyone’s life is to “start expecting supernatural favor” to attend to their life. It is quite difficult to experience what both your mind and spirit do not expect to receive. Start expecting to receive supernatural favor today!
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me so much that you have made provision for me to know the “force of favor” through the person of the Holy Spirit. Heavenly Father, I ask that you unleash fresh favor on my life. I decree and declare that I am increasing in wisdom, stature and favor with God and man. In Jesus name, I pray!
